EU rights stop at the EU border

An EU trade mark and an EU design cover the EU member states only. Türkiye needs its own protection: a Madrid designation or a national filing for trademarks, a national or Hague filing for designs.

European patents

Türkiye is a member of the European Patent Convention, so a European patent can be validated in Türkiye. The Turkish translation must be filed within three months of the mention of grant; the Unitary Patent does not include Türkiye.

Switzerland

Switzerland is outside the EU, so Swiss companies often already think country by country. Türkiye can be designated in a Madrid registration based on a Swiss mark.

File the Turkish translation and pay the fee at TÜRKPATENT within three months of the mention of grant in the European Patent Bulletin. We prepare the translation and file it.
